BENTLEY VILLAGE THRIFT SHOP
Introduction/History: On December 27, 2017, the Bentley Village Thrift Shop moved under the umbrella of the Foundation bringing its dedicated volunteers and a 25 year history of successful operations. This resident initiative is managed and staffed by a large group of volunteers. Open only on Fridays, the thrift shop attracts shoppers from within Bentley Village and also savvy bargain hunters from elsewhere in the community. Proceeds of sales support valuable healthy living activities.
Grants: Friends of Bentley Village (FOBV) – a Resident Council Committee – routinely accepts and reviews requests for grants from Thrift Shop proceeds and donations made by users of sponsored activities and groups like the Fix-It Shop and the Library. Final approval of the recommended grant allocations lies with the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
Retail Hours: Although volunteers work all week long to support the receipt and resale of donated items, the Bentley Village Thrift Shop, located on the campus of Bentley Village, 2315 Leisure Lane, is open to residents and the general public every Friday from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.
Donations: Residents may drop goods at the Thrift Shop in a special holding area where a donation form is available. Donations are sorted, cleaned, priced, displayed and sold by volunteers. Proceeds of sales fund the activities of over 23 organizations, clubs and other activities in and around the community. Donated items qualify as Federal tax deduction for donors who itemize.
Promotions: Special Sales are promoted by flyers posted on each building bulletin boards. Featured recently were:
